End of support after upgrading to Ubuntu 19.10

Post by frajer »

Hello, i had installed KeyHelp panel with Ubuntu LTS 18.04, but i wanted to install Ubuntu LTS 19.10, due to many fixes, better performance etc.., but i got warning screen about end of support peroid at December 1969. Will it cause some issues, if i will use The latest Ubuntu, or i have to downgrade back to Ubuntu LTS 18.04???
I'd be happier to use Ubuntu 19.10 instead of 18.04, without any issues.

Ubuntu 19.10 is NOT an LTS (= Long-Term Support) version. Only versions with even major version numbers are.

1969? Hm, that's a bit early... ;) But indeed the support for these short-term support versions is, well, short-termed... Just take a look at this: https://ubuntu.com/about/release-cycle# ... esktop-eol. You're indeed much better off with an LTS version.

Cheers,
Jan

Does KeyHelp supports ALL Ubuntu LTS (18.04, 20.04) ?

Ubuntu 20.04 has just been released today (sic!), so I guess you'll have to wait a few days for an update script. As soon as it is ready, you can find it in the KeyHelp news.

I'd just use Ubuntu 18.04 for now. It's the version I use, and I don't have any problems whatsoever.

Cheers,
Jan

Hello,

1) Do not upgrade yourself, always use the official KeyHelp upgrade scripts on this site: https://www.keyhelp.de/en/documentation/
Otherwise your server will not work properly. There are many more things needed to update the operating system than just calling the "do-release upgrade" - that's why these scripts exist.

2) The release of KeyHelp support for Ubuntu 20.04 depends heavily on the support of ionCube for PHP 7.4. They do not fully support PHP 7.4 yet, so this topic will have to wait. Expect support for Ubuntu 20.04 with the release of KeyHelp 20.2
Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Best regards
