Hi all,

Need a way to change the default DNS zone that KeyHelp creates with every new domain. Main reason is I use for all my domains an external email server and a specific A record, and want for all new domains created in Keyhelp be with the correct MX records.

From what I research, this is not available on KeyHelp GUI. So, the only file I found using SSH access, that seems to be the one to edit is: /etc/bind/keyhelp_domain.conf

To reach to my objective, can I simply edit the values on this file?

If yes, will it break any KeyHelp feature or cause issues?

Also is this file updated/replaced with KeyHelp updates and has the probability of be overwritten? If yes, can I just chattr +i /etc/bind/keyhelp_domain.conf the file?

this is the config file for the KeyHelp panel and the server: /etc/bind/keyhelp_domain.conf

If you want to update the DNS config for your domains you rather want to have a look here: /etc/bind/keyhelp_domains/*

These files are not update save and may needs to be rewritten due to user input via the UI.


I would advice to use the KeyHelp API and the DNS endpoint to update the records according to your needs (or the DNS editor within the KeyHelp UI). This way, they will remain update save.

I realized that the default MySQL table must be changed to change all the DNS created.

Does anyone know the best way?

You should not modify the contents of the KeyHelp database yourself. Please use the KeyHelp API for the purpose of modifying DNS settings of domains.
