Updating server in non live environment

Hi again,

I am upgrading my main server and need to install some software with web access (phpBB). So what I'm basically doing is starting a server and doing all the stuff there in parallel with the production server. And then, I will backup the production server database, restore it in the new server and point the domain to the new server once I make sure everything is working as expected.

Is there a way to access the user folder through a web browser? Right now the domain is being used by the production server, but I already created the domain for the user in keyhelp.

Do you use Windows?

You can edit the "hosts" file.
There you can point your domain to the new server.
These changes are only affecting your computer.

All other users will still us the production server.
