Keyhelp FollowSymLinks Update and 500 Internal Server Errors

This morning I woke up to find that all my websites were offline and showing 500 Internal Server Errors because of the recent Keyhelp update for the '.htaccess' files and the 'FollowSymLinks' update. I had an inbox full of monitoring servers reporting sites offline, not to mention emails from users complaining about the outage.

It would have been better to have sent out an advisory first before applying this automatically, so as to avoid issues. You might want to think about this next time.

Hello,

What exactly were the issues on your system? - Wrong owner of symlinks?

Don't know if it was the same issue
But opencart hosted on keyhelp did not take the .htaccess modify and had to modify it by hand

Hallo,

check the owner and group of the used symbolic links. Often they belong to root. If so change user and group to the corresponding Keyhelp user with the help of chown -h

Also check the error.log of the Keyhelp User for information
